Why Do People Fail with Most Diets?

The title of this article is a little tricky. Okay, but why?

If we’re going to be completely honest with ourselves, most diet plans are currently working on the market. You know that. I know that. Everyone who’s been on a diet of some kind knows that. It’s not a secret.

After all, those books wouldn’t be on the market, so people wouldn’t be buying them if they weren’t working at some stage or another. They’re going through a selection system. The economy is taking care of itself. Products that perform tend to sell better, and they’re getting a lot of exposure. All you need to do is look at the bestseller lists of diet books to get a clear understanding that these diets are working.

The problem is not whether they’re helping you lose your pounds. It goes without saying. They wouldn’t exist if they weren’t real. If they weren’t doing their job, they wouldn’t have existed. They wouldn’t be available on the market if they weren’t working at some level or any other.

Sustainability is the problem

This is how you need to describe nutritional deficiencies. Unfortunately, this is not what a lot of people who go on a diet after diet do. We dwell on the short-term loss of weight.

Maybe they’ve got some high school reunion they’ve got to go to. Perhaps they’re going to a job interview, and they’re under a lot of pressure to look their best, so they’re going on a crash diet, losing weight, and wondering what’s going to happen next? That’s right, man. Just as morning follows night, all that weight is coming back. I’m not talking about anything; I’m talking about everything.

Most diets fail due to enough time. The reason, of course, is the inability or unwillingness of people to focus on sustainability.

Let me say it loud and clear: if you go on a diet and don’t concentrate on nutrition, your diet will fail. You could take it to the bank.

Sooner or later, your life is going to catch up with you. Sooner or later, the past ways to do things, and these are the stuff you’re used to doing, will come back. Your old eating habits, your old dietary patterns, your old food preferences, all of these are going to come back and guess what’s going to happen?

All the weight you’ve lost in the early or middle stages of your diet is coming back. To make matters worse and add insult to injury, you end up weighing more. It’s bad enough that all that weight has returned, but you end up getting heavier and heavier and heavier.

That’s why a lot of people who go on one diet after another end up getting worse and worse. That’s why people fail to eat almost all the food they try. They are not focused on consistency. They’re just focusing on achieving dramatic weight loss. There’s no point in losing all that weight if you know for sure that you’re going to get all that back and then some.

Sustainability is the Key to Diet Success

Don’t go on a diet at all. Okay, I know that seems difficult. It may even seem extreme to a lot of people. But if you think about it long enough, it’s the most practical thing you could ever agree on.

Well, seriously, think about it. Why do you have to go through all the trouble and effort of losing weight when you know that sooner or later, that weight will come back?

Let’s not just deceive ourselves. Sometimes it only takes a change in our schedule or a slight change in our lifestyle, and all that weight comes back. The name of the game is sustainability.
